What do the Friends of the Library do?

friendsThe Friends support library programming such as summer reading, preschool storytimes, workshops, programs and other special events.

The Friends of the Colon Township Library meet quarterly on the second Monday of January, April, July and October at 7:00 p.m. at the library.

Annual fundraisers for the Friends include:

  • Flower Sale in May (with flats and hanging baskets pre-ordered in April)
  • Wine & Canvas in March.
  • Chair Auction in August.

Friends of Libraries are non-profit, charitable groups formed to support libraries in communities. Friends of Libraries groups are often involved in fundraising, advocacy, volunteerism, public awareness campaigns, and literacy programs.

Flower Sale 2014 a Success!

We had quite a group of volunteers come out for our annual Friends of the Library Flower Sale, held on May 10th on the library lawn. The Flower Sale is the Friends’ biggest fund-raising event of the year, and usually brings in about $2000.00 that is then used for library programming. This year was no exception, and thanks to the Friends and volunteers and every who bought flowers this year, we will once again have a successful year of library programs to offer to our faithful patrons!
