Hundreds of people came out to the Colon Township Library last Friday for the annual Christman in Colon event, and by hundreds I do mean hundreds.
We had reindeer in our yard, the Colon Garden Club upstairs putting on a gift-wrapping workshop for the kids, a children’s book giveaway by the Kiwanis of Colon, and the Friends of the Library Book Sale downstairs. The Kiwanis gave away nearly 150 books, there were more gifts wrapped for parents than our volunteers could count, and we made a nice chunk of cash for the Friends of the Library with the book sale. As always, we couldn’t be more impressed with the people of Colon, who braved some serious cold weather to attend our library functions, and we are happy to repay that dedication in any way we can. We miss having Santa at the library, but we will certainly find ways to spread the holiday cheer without him!
What will we be doing next year? It’s a bit early to be revealing our secrets, but we hope to make it even bigger and better than ever. Stay tuned!
